A friend is having a hen do and I was invited along, there's a show on near her that weekend with strippers and music and all things that a dirty great poof like myself would enjoy, but when we phoned up to make the booking I was told I couldn't come, because 'no men allowed'. I'd prefer it if these 'no men' ladies nights owned up to the fact that who they actually want to turn away, is the gays.Įncountered the issue recently. There aren't going to be many straight men who're going to rush into their pink party hats and sit screaming as one of the dreamboys takes their clothes off on a table next to them. Again you there can't be any ambiguity over what men they mean.

#No masculine gay men around me full#
You can't go to a gay club or gay bar without it being full of straight, usually drunk, women who are either there because they feel safe or they have gay friends or sometimes because they find gay men adorable, often in an incredibly patronising way. It's always surprised me how much straight women are happy to be part of gay culture yet seem to insist on a hard division when it comes to us being part of theirs. So when you see these events advertised with the instruction of: 'No men allowed', in reality what that means is: 'no gays', isn't it?

I can't imagine, if you're a heterosexual male, you'd be clamouring to go to somewhere that offered cocktails, a male stripper and a night out sipping champagne (or more likely knocking back shots) and letting your hair down.
